The Undergraduate

My Vision Board – Educate, Inspire, Empower

Welcome to my unexpected and life changing adventure! What could be more unexpected than becoming an undergraduate at the age of 45? How about becoming one for the second time around!

Growing Up

I grew up in the “cow town” of Calgary, Alberta. Although, I never had cows or a ranch for that matter. I’m just a regular city girl through and through! As a child I loved to read, write, and play school with my sisters. I often dreamed of becoming a mom, a teacher, and even a famous author. To my surprise, one of my poems was published in the local newspaper when I was in early elementary school!

In high school my favourite subjects were English and Art. When I graduated, I took several years of Fine Art at the University of Calgary. Eventually, I received a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education. After university I moved to beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia where I taught Kindergarten, before staying home to raise my son and two daughters.

The Undergraduate (Again)

Now I’m a Communications and Publishing student at SFU and absolutely loving it. With the help of this site, more practice in writing and publishing, and a lot of hard work, perhaps I’ll  reach my final goal of becoming an author (the “famous” part is no longer so important to me). What is important to me is my passion for life-long learning, positive social change, and the desire to educate, inspire, and empower others through my love of writing.

What Do I Love to Do?

My interests include reading historical and thriller novels, shopping at antique and thrift stores, visiting heritage sites, taking photos, spending time with friends and family, and watching lots of horror movies.

Thanks for joining me in this amazing journey of education, inspiration, and personal empowerment.
